|The Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) “Big Picture”|
|… reproduce the SAFe Big Picture in print, poster, or electronic form?||You may download, copy, display, print, use, and distribute the Big Picture, free of charge, to promote the adoption and use of SAFe®, on the condition you do not: 1) compete with any product or training provided by or for Scaled Agile, Inc., 2) modify any of the graphics, or 3) remove or obstruct the trademarks and copyright. Further permission is not required if your use complies with these restrictions. Permission, restrictions, and instructions are included on the Download Posters page found on the SAFe home page under the Resources tab.
|… modify or customize the SAFe Big Picture?||Scaled Agile no longer provides a commercial platform to make changes to the SAFe Big Picture for internal customization. We do permit some types of annotations, such as shading/greying out, highlighting, enlarging, and zooming in, or adding overlays, or post-it type notes, or frame boxes. It is of utmost importance to Scaled Agile and our community that the integrity of the original graphic remains apparent and to make it obvious that the annotations are additions. In other words, it has to be clear that there is only one Big Picture. Annotated graphics must be submitted to Scaled Agile prior to use. Please submit a permission request for illustrations of the types of annotations likely to be permitted and to submit the final work you seek to use.||Permissions Form|
|… share modifications or customizations of the SAFe Big Picture?||No, the EXTERNAL use of a modified or customized SAFe Big Picture is strictly prohibited. External uses include sharing with suppliers, business partners, current or potential customers, and other enterprises, organizations, entities, or individuals.
|… include a copy of the SAFe Big Picture on my website?||Yes, you may include the SAFe Big Picture on your website as long as you embed or otherwise provide a link to the SAFe homepage for the most current information.|
|… include slides from SAFe Foundations in my upcoming presentation?||You may download, copy, display, print, use, and distribute any of the PowerPoint slides in the SAFe® Foundations deck, free of charge, for educational purposes and to promote the adoption and use of SAFe®, on the condition you do not: 1) compete with any product or training provided by or for Scaled Agile, Inc., 2) modify any of the graphics, or 3) remove or obstruct the trademarks and copyright. |Use of SAFe Courseware|
|… use SAFe Courseware in presentations, bids, proposals or informal training?||No. All SAFe courseware is governed by the restrictions in the Courseware Licensing Agreement connected to its purchase which require those materials be used only for a sanctioned in-person class, and not for any other purpose. |Remote Delivery of SAFe® Training / Distance Learning|
|… conduct SAFe training via remote delivery (such as online, video, WebEx or Skype)?||No. The Courseware License Agreement that governs the use of all SAFe courseware expressly requires that training be in-person in a classroom or onsite. Scaled Agile has tested whether exceptions can be made to allow remote training and the results indicate that it is too difficult for the instructors and students, despite extensive qualifications and experience of the instructor. We are committed to maximizing the chance of success for each student, and since SAFe is largely experiential, remote teaching/learning presents prohibitive challenges. For students who are hard to reach, Scaled Agile has several very talented and well-connected people who manage regions across the globe who can coordinate regional assistance for in-person training.||Permissions Form|
|Remote Delivery of Instruction using SAFe® Toolkits|
|… provide SAFe Toolkit instruction via remote delivery (such as online, video, WebEx or Skype)?||Yes, in some case with express permission. Toolkits are not governed by the Courseware License Agreement, but by a Toolkit License Agreement included in each Toolkit’s materials which may not require in-person delivery. The instruction that is provided using SAFe Toolkits should never be used in place of SAFe Courses and is still best delivered in-person, so please submit a permissions request to deliver Toolkit instruction remotely.||Permissions Form|

You may only use SAFe trademarks in connection with SAFe® products and services, and will not be permitted to imply that any other products or services are endorsed, approved, or provided by Scaled Agile, Inc. without a license agreement or other written permission.|

|… translate SAFe content into another language?||
No, translations of SAFe are not permitted. SAFe is very dynamic and it is impossible to keep the Big Picture, its underlying content, and all of the SAFe Courseware and training materials current. The Glossary is the one exception and you will find that in many translated languages on the Glossary page found on the SAFe home page under the Resources tab. We encourage articles or blogs in other languages that include links to the SAFe website material, and permit translation of course description pages for advertising purposes. We also permit instructors to teach courses in local language, but the materials and slides must not be translated and instead must be presented unmodified in English. Importantly, the exam will always be in English.
